evan almighty

I saw this movie at a drive-thru movie theater with my ex-boyfriend/roomate on a sleepy Saturday night. I was a little disappointed that the sole comedic premise of the movie was based on how Steve Carell's character's appearance changes as he becomes a modern day Noah. Sure the jokes were funny, but they were all about his new appearance, so they get stale fairly quickly. The Arc itself was indeed very impressive as were the myriad of exotic animals and the CG generated flood. Had the movie just been about the Arc with the animals and the flood, without any dialogue, it would've still managed to captivate the audience's attention. All actors did a great job, I just wish Lauren Graham had been given more lines because I think she is superb on Gilmore Girls, and it was kind of a shocker to see John Goodman play a villain. Overall I would say this movie was cute, but it wasn't the laugh out loud comedic romp the media hyped it out to be. Or maybe it was just 'cause I watched it with my ex, hmmmmm...... ^-^ the end.
